Importing permit
IMPORTING DOG AND CATS TO ETHIOPIA

                                                 

 PLEASE READ THIS AS IT CONTAINS IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Herewith a copy of the veterinary health certificate that is required for your pet/s entering Ethiopia. Please note that cats and dogs have separate permits and separate health clearance.

Please note: This is a standard health certificate form for animals entering Ethiopia From all over the world. The Ethiopian Veterinary Department will not accept any other health certificate, so please make sure that your vet used the one provided. The final health certificate must be done WITHIN 10 days of your pet/s arrival in Ethiopia. After your vet has completed this form, it must be STAMPED AND SIGNED BY THE GOVERNMENT VET OFF.THE EXPORTING COUNTRY. This health certificate will not be acceptable without the Government vets. Signature and stamp. Your pet must have a valid rabies vaccination; by valid we mean that the vaccination must have been given no more than one year and no less than thirty days before travel. The vaccination date ad type of vaccine certificate (booklet) must be produced. (The certificate will be returned to you after the documents have been checked.

All animals coming into Ethiopia require an import permit, irrespective of the country of origin.

Animals entering ET from other countries require an import permit, a valid rabies vaccination. There is also Ethiopian health certificate, which must be completed by your local vet and must be stamped and signed by the Government Vet in the country if origin within 10 days of travel to Ethiopia.

Import Permits

These are obtained from the Department of Agriculture in Ethiopia.

When an import Permit issued there will be a Veterinary Health Certificate in Respect of Dogs/cats for export to Ethiopia attached to it. This is the only health certificate for m that will be accepted by the Ethiopian Government Vet who inspects the paper on arrival in Ethiopia. If this health certificate has not been completely correctly, or the original does not arrive with the animals, the animal will not be allowed entry into Ethiopia.

If we apply for the import permit on your behalf, we will fax or email the Health Clearance forms to you in order that you can commence with all process in your country which must be done within 30 days of travel. We will, once received, send you a copy of the import permit.

We are also able to meet the incoming flight, clear customs, pay airline handling fee and, if non-quarantine, deliver pets to the owners home.
